Creating this series was an exploration in which I peer into the darkness and light of what a Cosmic Ni9htmare journey may entail.  I incorporated a glowing aspect with black light reactive paints to give the paintings two sides. A side you can see during the day that is floating in space and a second, darker version, that when shown under a blacklight you can see the energy of the painting that is vibrant and playful.

Untitled I, 2022

Dimension: 40” x 24” (2 panels)

This untitled painting is a two-panel piece that exudes energy. The purples, pinks and electric blues span across the entire painting. There is a semblance of cold fusion that looks as it can still burn. The parallel lines resemble corridors, passage ways that I like to imagine lead to other dimensions.

Untitled II, 2022

Dimension: 24” x 12”

This piece, though smaller than the rest in this series, hides an interstellar window one can gaze through.  The infused texture and eerie green shadow allude to some geometric shapes. This painting really transforms once it is illuminated with a blacklight. The spheres pop out from the hidden shadows and create a whole new look and feel for the painting.

Untitled III, 2022

Dimension: 52” x 24” (3 panels)

This three-panel piece brightens any space it occupies. The bold vibrant strips explode when incased in the blacklight. I had a lot of fun with this piece and experimenting with different layers. I wanted this painting to show motion and give the viewer a feel of floating through space.

Untitled IV, 2022

Dimension: 24” x 18”

This piece I wanted to have a bit of a naughty feel to it. I wanted to have the viewer feel as though they were looking into something they were not supposed to; a bit of a voyeur feeling if you will. The blacklight feature adds a neon city element to it.

Untitled V. 2022

Dimension: 20” x 16”

This piece has two distinct forms. One in the day light that looks like a far-off planet just out of reach and then a blacklight side that brings you right to the door step of contact.

Untitled VI. 2022

Dimension: 20” x 24”

Untitled VI holds a special place in my heart as I put a lot of effort in trying not to destroy this painting. I went as far as I could go when torching this piece. The dark purples and highlighted violets bring this eerie painting to life as do the textures.

Untitled VII, 2022

Dimension: 28” x 22”

This piece was my first attempt at incorporating aluminum in a painting. I wanted to have a reflective surface that shimmered as the viewer examined the piece. I love how this painting has movement in it even though it is standing still. Once the blacklight hits this painting it takes on a whole other element of splendor.

Untitled VIII, 2022

Dimension: 20” x 16”

This piece drew inspiration from fire and electricity. I wanted to create an energetic painting that explodes in the blacklight as well as in the day light.

Untitled IX, 2022

Dimension: 30” x 24”

This piece was a fun experiment. I wanted to layer on as many types of textures as I could. Between molding paste, fire, water and even coffee grounds I put everything at my disposal into this painting.

X Complete.jpg

Untitled X, 2022

Dimension: 20” x 48”

This piece is one of the largest in the series. Had fun playing with the different elements that comprise this painting. The shape in the center enacts ideas of time and the vastness of space. The bold colors and dynamic shapes poise a window the viewer can impress upon.

Untitled XI, 2022

Dimension: 23.5” x 35.5”

This piece was exciting to work on. There was a primary focus on texturing and stenciling. the overall feel for this piece is a representation of captured thought. Dark and cosmic memories floating through the vastness of space.

Untitled XII, 2022

Dimension: 48” x 18” (2 panels)

This piece is geometric by design but intentionally distorted. I wanted to create a feeling of a cold disturbance in what seems to be an orderly display of atmosphere.

Untitled XIII, 2022

Dimension: 24” x 36”

This piece is the apex of the series, the climax and conglomeration of all the skills I learned and implemented throughout the series. Dark cosmic energy was the main goal for representation of this painting. This painting is a power piece; it is a primary piece to put in your home or office.
